Satellite PartyJane’s Addiction is like your slutty girlfriend who no matter how much she fools around she’s just too great to cut loose. The band is coming up on 30 years together in various incarnations (they swap bass players like Spinal Tap swaps drummers), and during that time the members have enjoyed numerous solo and side projects.

I love that the Jane’s guys have flexed their creative muscles whenever and wherever they wanted to. I’ve left out the non-recording side projects, but they’re pretty awesome, too.

Deep Cuts: Money Talk

DoubloonLook, we all go through lean years when we first step out on our own. Sadly, those lean years never end for some, and for more and more people they go on a hell of a lot longer than they should.

Just keep it in mind, okay?  We all struggle sometimes.  If you’re on top of it now don’t be afraid to give someday else a hand up.  The only “hand out” in that exchange is yours, spreading kindness.

Jane’s Addiction On Tour

My generation’s Woodstock was Lollapalooza, the first incarnation of which was intended to be Jane’s Addiction’s farewell tour.  That was in 1991 –  thank goodness Perry and the rest of Jane’s aren’t suited for retirement.

The band is out on the road in support of their new album, The Great Escape Artist.

I’ve seen Jane’s Addiction in clubs, theaters, and arenas.  I even saw Perry’s post-Jane’s band, Porno For Pyros, play in the middle of a desert.  They are always amazing, but the smaller the venue the better the show.   This leg of the Theatre Of The Escapists tour seems to focus on theaters around 3,000 seats or so,  so you’re in for a treat.
